Finding a taxi in Chicago

There are about 7 000 licenced taxi cabs in Chicago. Taxis can be of all colors, but all have TAXI signs on the roof. It is usually easy to flag down a taxi most anywhere, but they can also be found outside train stations, hotels and tourist attractions.

General taxi fares in Chicago

The taximeter starts at $2.25, and then $0.20 for each 1/9 of a mile. Additional passengers are extra, but baggage is included in the fare. Tipping is encouraged. Passengers also have to pay all tolls and fees. Most Chicago taxis accept credit cards.
