Finding a taxi
Taxicabs in Boston are numerous, and come in all colors. They can be hailed on the streets, ordered by phone or picked up at a taxi stand or outside a hotel or a train station. There are six taxi companies in Boston.
General taxi fares
Taxis in Boston tend to be rather expensive, compared to other U.S. cities. Prices are regulated, and the starting fare is $2.60; the taximeter then adds $2.80 per mile.
Please note that it's the passenger that pays for all tolls (currently $5.25), and that there is an extra fee (currently $2.75) for rides from the airport. All Boston cabs will use the taximeters inside the city, as flat fares are illegal, except for longer rides.
A tip of 10-15% of the fare is expected.
